(how to have a Martian picnic)
copyright 1998 w. cooley
dialup the long-wave extreme
of the visible landscape.
slowdrip water from the satellite-spun sky.
now picture a dull brown lake, but at a distance;
for miles, everywhere, the kind of martian mud
that sticks so you won't go walking but
imagine:
    sunyellow glinting behind your eyes,
    an earthorange taste in your mouth,
    a slow dissolve into the closely adjacent
    sources of light
